Rising Moon - extended

After Edward Wilkins Waite's masterpiece "The Rising Moon". Oil on wood, 110cm x 70cm.
"The Rising Moon" is one of my favourites. But its scene is chosen in such a way, that it stops rather unexpectedly in the middle of the lake to the left side of the painting. So always, when I looked at it, I wanted to see what to the left of the lake is. Therefore I chose this wider format and tried to find it out. It turns out: cottonwood trees :)
Trying out wood as a medium for the first time and I have to say, that I really like it. It takes a bit of preparation and is really heavy, but working on it with the colors is great.
