Nocturnal Studies

- Just wanted to try something different for a day and practice to paint a scene more freely and quickly from imagination.
To give some context: This study is inspired by a story my grandfather used to tell me.
During his studies, he had basically nothing but a room under the roof of an apartment, owned by an elderly woman.
His room would become really cold in winter, so his father sent him a package with some coal.
The coal, however, wasn't enough to heat the room up every day, so he only used it on sundays to be able to study for his exams in a somewhat warm environment.
