Some more copies

A few copies I did throughout 2020, exploring some very different techniques:
1. Ivan Shishkin's "Countess Mordvinov's Forest". The colors are muted/more grey and overall darker. I also left the person out and placed some tiny, but happy, trees there instead. I definitely learned a lot from this, from the overall handling of a forest scene and very slight color variations, to a more drawing-like detailing technique on top of a rough base layer.
2. Carel Fabritius' now very popular "The Goldfinch", as a gift for my father's 60th (only given one and a half years too late). I learned a lot about using brushstrokes for structures/details.
3. Louis Douzette's "Landscape in the Moonlight". I have never painted that thickly before..
